Lakewood, N.J.- In one of the more creative fundraisers we have seen at Georgian Court University, the GCU volleyball squad sponsored a beard-shaving contest with the end result benefiting Ocean's Harbor House in local Toms River, N.J. 

In an effort to raise monies for Harbor House, various "ridiculous" beard options were offered to the GCU community with Georgian Court Athletic Trainer, Kevin Drew, agreeing to sport the selection that collected the most donations. With over $177 raised, $73.86 was put towards the winning whiskers, which was ... the mutton chops!

Drew channeled his inner Chester A. Arthur and debuted his stylish scruff during Thursday evening's volleyball match vs. Adelphi University. Representatives from Harbor House will be in attendance later this season to accept a check from this fun-filled fundraiser.

Harbor House is a dynamic non-profit agency committed to fulfilling its mission as a safe haven for youth through a comprehensive service model. Located along the central Jersey Shore, the primary population they work with is youth, ages 10-21 in Ocean County and Monmouth County. A smaller number of youth come from other various parts of the state.
