In Her Words HOW SWIMMING CHANGED MY LIFE

I thank you deeply for paving the road that has led me to the point in life where I am today. The road wasn’t usual: rather than rocks it was full of flip turns, rather than junctions I always had two lane lines guiding my way to the other end of the pool and rather than participating in an individual sport, I always had like-minded people accompanying me.

I am beyond thankful for the opportunities that you have given me, the lessons you have taught me, and the challenges you needed me to overcome.

Learning to enjoy the feeling of jumping into cold water at 6am each morning took me quite some time, but it turns out, that’s what it took to become successful, not only in the water, but this determination and persistence has also influenced every other aspect of my life to a great extent.

I have spent so much time, blood, sweat, and tears along the way, but these are not the times I remember most. Thinking back to all the time I spent with you, I cannot remember a day I wasn’t happy.

I remember the laughter, the euphoria, the companionship and the satisfaction of cashing in my hard work while enjoying my time in the water. So thank you Swimming for guiding me through life and for all the positive energy you are giving me every day of the year.

Entitled to nothing, grateful for everything.
